This is my block ink print. The media I used was a soft B2 pencil for the draft then I used a carving tool to carve out the background of the print. I applied hatching to the print to add design. I learned how to fill space and connect the same prints together to make a better design. I had a hard time with using smaller carving tools because they often didn’t carve anything out.
This is my ink drawing of a sun flower. The media I used in this drawing was a nib. Through out this drawing it was hard to make defined lines because of how little the nib could hold ink. I used cross hatching and hatching to show darkness on the middle of the flower and the stem.
This is my face painting. The media used throughout this painting was a thin paint brush and a medium paint brush. The design I tried to focus on was contrast which is expressed through the shadows under the eyes, nose, chin, eyelids and a little bit of the ears. The art elements I tried to focus on was value and form with aligning the mouth with the eyes and making all of the shades blend in together like the photo. New skills that I learned doing this painting was shading with watercolor. Hardships throughout the painting was getting a shadow that looked good with the painting and also to get a good amount of paint to mix.
This is my leaves painting. The media I used in this painting was a small paint brush, a big paint brush, and some watercolors. I tried to focus on layers of color in the leaves from light to dark starting with yellow. I also tried to get a good tone of color for the shadow and background to make the leaves pop with a 3d like image. I had challenges with getting the actual color of the leaves because they were much darker in the photo than the painting.
This is my third drawing. I took a picture off of the internet of the space needle and I drew it using a pencil for the media. The skills that I learned doing this drawing was making objects 3D (space needle) and also shadows within the sky. I focused on making certain objects smaller to create distance and space throughout the drawing.
This is my room drawing. The media I used was a pencil. I tried to show the first person view of the room through showing the major parts of the room. I did well with lining up objects with the focal point but I didn’t do well with figuring out the correct sizes of objects to make them look natural. My detailed piece in my drawing is the poster on the back wall of my favorite album. Through out the drawing the room shows how a focal point can make distance and angles throughout the room.
iThis is my leaves drawing. I tried to focus on the major picture throughout the drawing by expressing the value and pop of the layers of leaves that I drew. The media I used was a pencil. What was wrong with this drawing was getting the leaves to look normal and not like footballs.
This is my spiral square drawing. The media used in this drawing was a pencil. In the drawing I tried to express a 3D object by using 2D spiral squares. I learned that lines can be used to express the shapes of the image and the shapes create the image. With using these spiral squares I used patterns that connected to make other spirals showing an endless amount of spirals throughout the 3D square. I could of focused more on texture and value throughout the drawing to make it pop more.
